Weedy rice is also called weed type rice or weed strain.It belongs to the intermediate type between wild rice and culture rice.Because it has some characteristics of weed,at the same time its beginning appearance,physiological and biochemical traits are similar to that of culture rice,it is difficult to be chemical controlled and influences the yield and quality of rice.Because of the widespread of directly sowing technology and water-saving cultural practices in recent years,the harm of weedy rice has been more and more serious.On the other hand,weedy rice is a good resistant resource.In this study,main characteristics and appearances of several strains of weedy rice collected in the northeast of China were investigated.These conclusions will provide a basis for further study and utilization of weedy rice.
