In this study the plant expression vector pTF-SKC1, harboring a Na+ transporter gene SKC1 which is derived from rice and a selection marker gene bar, was constructed. The gene was transformed into soybean mediated with Agrobacterium tumefaciens by using cotyledon node as explants. PPT resistant regenerated plants were identified by PCR, and the rate of positive plants was 50%. The test for salt-tolerance of the transformed plants showed that over-expressing of SKC1 in soybean could enhance salt tolerance of the transgenic plant of soybean.
