Abstract:This study was carried out to analyze the combining ability of inbred lines from local maize germplasm inorder to provide the theoretical basis for assessing potential value of inbred lines. The materials included 12 inbredlines, which were test-cross with CK inbred lines in a NCII design. Main agronomic characteristics of 12 inbredlines, their combining ability and heterosis were analyzed. The results showed that the inbred lines 354, 355, C1 and C2 had a good performance in GCA of yield and related traits. The crosses of 352×C4 had higher SCA effects.Compared with the control, hybrids with heterosis >8% for yield were the crosses between 354, 355 and C1, C2, C5.
