The potential impact on the rhizosphere microbial community composition, diversity, and structure is an important part of the environmental risk assessment of genetically modified(GM) plants. In this study, the Biolog ECO microplate method was employed to explore the potential impact of GM maize CM8101 with Cry1Ab-Ma on the functional diversity of rhizosphere microbial communities. The results demonstrated that there were no significant differences in average color change rate, microbial diversity indices, and carbon source utilization rates between GM maize CM8101 and its near-isogenic non-GM maize Zheng 58. This study provides new evidence for the environmental safety of GM maize CM8101.
