Abstract:To coordinate urban–rural development and address the low efficiency of rural land transfer, farmers’ willingness to withdraw from land contract right and its influencing factors in Zhoukou City were empirically analyzed using contingency table analysis and a binary Logistic regression model. The results showed that contingency table analysis indicated that the interviewed farmers were generally characterized by low educational attainment, small cultivated land scale, poor land quality and low income. In terms of compensation, farmers showed a strong preference for employment compensation and annual compensation linked to land price appreciation, with expected compensation levels exceeding 30, 000 yuan per 667 m2. Most farmers were willing to withdraw from land contract right if post-withdrawal economic losses could be controlled. The binary Logistic regression analysis further identified age, education level, household income source, urban housing ownership, economic loss from withdrawal, one-time compensation amount, land quality and perceived importance of land as significant factors influencing farmers’willingness to withdraw. Therefore, when formulating policies for the withdrawal of rural land contract right, the heterogeneity of farmer groups should be fully considered, and a“one-size-fits-all” approach should be avoided. A differentiated withdrawal mechanism implemented by region, category and stage should be promoted, and policies should be designed from scientific, rational and people-oriented perspectives. This approach helps optimize the allocation of land resources, effectively safeguard farmers’livelihood and devel‐opment rights, and provide institutional support for promoting agricultural modernization and urban–rural integrated development.
